Kia has unveiled official images of the second-generation Seltos crossover. With the generational change, the SUV moved to the K3 platform, grew in size, and adopted a more contemporary design. The "second" Seltos will arrive in the US market next year, with the new model positioned as a 2027 model.
The new-generation SUV has grown by 7.6 cm in length, and its wheelbase has also increased by a similar amount. The Seltos has also become slightly wider. The exterior design of the new model is in keeping with Kia's current lineup: a large grille, a floating roofline, vertical taillights, and concealed door handles. A new matte finish called Magma Red is now available.
The interior has also been significantly updated. Two 12.3-inch screens have been added, but physical buttons have been retained for easy access to the most frequently used functions. This applies to the climate control unit. Onboard software updates are available over-the-air. There's an AI-powered voice assistant, a head-up display, and modern driver assistance systems.
The engine lineup hasn't been overhauled. The crossover is available with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 147 hp or one of two turbocharged engines producing up to 190 hp. The top-of-the-line model uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional. A hybrid is also available, but specifications haven't yet been disclosed.
The new model will be available in LX, EX, and SX trim levels, as well as the GT-Line (sporty variant) and X-Line (with darkened trim).
Production of the second-generation Seltos begins this month. Price lists will be announced closer to the official sales launch. The current Seltos starts at $25,135 at dealerships in the US.
